The first episode of Samsung's massive GALAXY 11 campaign shows off the team that will save planet Earth

We've recently talked about Samsung's massive marketing budget, and if you've been wondering what kind of possibilities one such reveals, then you should look no further than the electronics giant's ongoing#GALAXY11 campaign.

In a typical Samsung fashion, the GALAXY11 campaign is as futuristic and over-the-top as is to be expected, but this needn't necessarily be viewed as something bad. In fact, the first episode of the saga is pretty cool -- a short 4-minute cinematic that will walk you through the entire idea of Sammy's marketing department for this new campaign that is set to continue throughout 2014. In a nutshell, a bunch of hostile-looking alien ships have arrived on Earth in Samsung's alternative universe, and have challenged Earth's finest to a game of football, winner takes all. Literally, too – if Earth loses, the Aliens will be claiming ownership of our green planet. Of course, us humans know a thing or two about football, so German coach Franz Backenbauer has been tasked with assembling an all-stars team to face off the invaders, and it will rely on something more than pure talent – Samsung gadgetry, like the Galaxy Gear. Or so we're told.

"We've assembled a 'dream team' of top-class players from around the world to join the Galaxy 11 campaign and help bring this story to life across various channels and Galaxy devices," said Younghee Lee, Executive VP of Global Marketing at Samsung Electronics. "As the story continues to unfold, fans participation will become even more vital to our campaign. We are looking forward to bringing our passionate fans closer to the Galaxy 11 team and story through a series of upcoming socially-driven and interactive initiatives.”

As we mentioned, the team is ready to roll, and the roster includes well-known football players, such as:

1. Lionel Messi
2. Mario Götze
3. Oscar dos Santos Emboaba Jr.
4. Wu Lei
5. Stephan El Shaarawy
6. Victor Moses
7. Radamel Falcao
8. Lee Chung-Yong
9. Iker Casillas
10. Wayne Rooney
11. Landon Donovan
12. Alexander Kerzhakov
13. Christiano Ronaldo
